The Stability Floor
A person asking for stability is often not asking you to abandon the change. They are asking for a floor. When the floor is vague, every conversation feels like a threat. When it has numbers, you can protect it, test it, and revisit it.
Set six household lines together: minimum monthly income, savings floor, health insurance coverage, debt ceiling, retirement contribution to keep, and family time to protect. Write a pause rule, choose one reversible test, and put the review date on the calendar. Bring actual numbers, not reassurance.
"We will be fine" is not a plan. A visible floor is.
