John Maxwell – Leadership Gold. Here is a book that showed me the importance of leadership is not a rank; it’s an approach! Another great lesson was leadership is doing what is right even when no one is watching. The actual test of leadership is not what happens when things are going well but how you respond during difficult times, to name a few.
Brian Tracy – The Power of Self-Discipline. This book helped me understand the value of delayed gratification and how self-discipline is the key to success in any area of life. If you want to achieve anything significant, you must be willing to put in the hard work and discipline required.
Lee Cockerell – Creativity, Inc. This book helped me understand that as a leader, you are only as good as the team around you. It takes a couple of creatives to develop and execute new ideas flawlessly. Leadership is not about having all the answers but building a group of people who can generate the best ideas and see them through to execution.
Bill George – True North. This book helped me understand the importance of staying true to yourself as a leader. It is easy to get caught up in the trappings of success and lose sight of what is important to you. True North is about finding your anchor and using it to navigate the challenges and opportunities of leadership.
Bill Hybels – Leadership Axioms. This book taught me that leadership is not a position or title but an approach! We all have the opportunity to do leadership regardless of our title or status.

– Learning from the mistakes of other leaders: Leadership books can also be a great source of learning from the mistakes of other leaders. Save the time, energy, and resources needed to make those same mistakes yourself.
– Reading stories of overcoming adversity: can help remind you that you can overcome any obstacle in your life.
